Request early accessWhat makes a good YouTube title
A title has one job: tell the right viewer what the video is about and give them a reason to click. These are the basics the checker looks at.
Keep it to about 60 characters
Phones often cut a title after about 60 characters, and search after about 70. Anything past that may never be read, so the words that matter go first.
Put the topic up front
Use the words people type into search, and start with them. "Sourdough bread for beginners: 5 mistakes" says the topic before the viewer scrolls past. If you add a topic or keyword, the checker looks for it in the first 5 words.
Be clear, then make them curious
A viewer should know what they get from the title alone. Once that is clear, a question, a promise or a contrast ("before and after", "vs") gives them a reason to click.
Use a number when it fits
A count, a year or a time ("7 tips", "in 10 minutes") makes the promise concrete. Do not force one in when the video has none.
Skip shouting and clickbait
One word in capitals can add emphasis. More reads as shouting. Phrases like "you won't believe" and a row of exclamation marks make a title look like clickbait, and viewers who feel tricked leave early.
How the score works
- Quick score: fixed rules for length, the topic up front, curiosity and clarity, numbers, capitals and clickbait. It runs in your browser and works any time.
- AI check: Claude, an AI model, judges the emotion the title sparks and how clear the topic is, and writes 3 better titles that keep your topic and facts. The score is the average of the AI judgment and the rules. You get 3 AI checks a day.
- The score checks the words of the title only. It does not promise views or rankings.
- Titles are sent to our AI provider to score them and are not stored. See the privacy policy.
Inside VidLasso, Optimize runs the same kind of checks on every video you publish, with your channel's own numbers. See around the app.
Questions
Is the YouTube title checker free?
Yes. You get 3 AI checks a day with no sign in, and the quick score, which runs in your browser, works any time.
How long should a YouTube title be?
Aim for 60 characters or fewer. Phones often cut titles after about 60 characters and search after about 70, so put the words that matter first.
Do you store the titles I check?
No. The title and topic are sent to our AI provider to score them and are not stored. To count the free checks we keep a daily code made from your connection, never your IP address, and delete it after 2 days.
Does a high score mean more views?
No. The score checks the basics of the words in your title. Views also depend on the video, the thumbnail, the topic and your audience.
What is the difference between the AI check and the quick score?
The quick score uses fixed rules for length, the topic up front, curiosity and clarity, numbers, capitals and clickbait. The AI check adds a judgment of the emotion the title sparks and how clear the topic is, and writes 3 better titles.
